Projects

1. El Jardin Del Paraiso (like us on Facebook!)

El Jardin De Paradiso is an incredible 3/4 acre garden (in the Lower East Side of NYC) that is an inspiring model in urban restoration. In the 1980’s this site was a burned-out, rubble-filled waste-land. Through the efforts of the El Jardin members this site now features a pond within a native wetland of plants and trees that last flourished in this neighborhood in the 1600’s!

Rock ‘n Renew will continue work with El Jardin designers Thomas Muse and Bill Young, and El Jardin members Roderick Romero, David Schmidlapp and many others to grow food, provide sustainability workshops, and continue to build one of NYC’s finest examples of urban ecological restoration. 2. Bayonne Ecology Center

3. Hawai’ian Reforestation sites: Hakalau, Pauillo Mauka & Honoka’a

Each site focuses on different portions of Hawai’i’s amazing biodiversity and allows us to develop ecological restoration techniques that are applied throughout the mainland U.S. in our school programs.
